Mouse liver samples
·              Liver samples were homogenized in 300 μL ice-cold RIPA buffer (Pierce Biotech- nology) containing complete
protease inhibitor cocktail tablets and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail tablets
·              PRO Scientific Homogenizers
Journal of Molecular Neuroscience
·              PRO250 Homogenizer was used
·              Samples were also sonicated, making this an ideal application for the DPS-20 Two- Step Homogenizer, mechanically homogenizer and sonicate with one system

Do bead mills provide better cell lysis compared to rotor stator homogenizers?

The short answer is no.

Mechanical homogenizers are more than capable of providing the same level of cell lysis in a fraction of the time it takes a bead mill.

Most mechanical homogenizing is done in a matter of seconds with ZERO heat produced and you can continue on with your same tubes you are processing in, no need to buy special tubes and beads!
The same piece of PRO homogenizing equipment can homogenize both soft and hard tissue samples.

      PRO Generator Probe Maintenance

Do you know how easy it is to take apart a PRO Quick Connect Generator Probe?

This makes this 316SS probe ideal for cleaning in-between samples.

      Take a look...

Once you take apart a PRO Quick Connect Generator Probe, it can be easily cleaned through one of these methods, or whatever your protocol calls for:

Chemical process - Germicidal solutions (formalin, phenol, alcohol etc.) can disinfect in most cases.Residues of the germicide must subsequently be removed with sterilized water.

Please ensure that all chemical processes are compatible with 316SS and PTFE.

Sterilizing by humid heat – This means sterilizing with steam at a pressure of 2 bar above atmosphere and a temperature of 120oC.

      PRO Generators are heat resistant up to 390° F / 198° C.

Sterilizing by hot air - Hot air sterilization is normally carried out at 160 to 190oC.

      PRO Generators are heat resistant up to 390° F / 198° C

Flaming - This method can be used, however, it is only effective on external surfaces.

      PRO Generators are heat resistant up to 390° F / 198° C

You'll also want to regularly inspect the wearing parts of your generator probe.

      Here are some guidelines for doing that;

Perform a simple lower bearing maintenance check

It is time to replace your lower bearing...

      •             if the inside diameter of the lower bearing fits loosely on the outside diameter of the shaft

      •             if you are able to wiggle and tilt the bearing

      Perform a PTFE washer check

      This is simple enough...

      •             is the white Teflon washer missing?  These tend to get misplaced when cleaning and often the generator is reassembled without the washer

      •             is the white Teflon washer worn?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, it is time to replace your washer.

"Now that I have performed a routine generator maintenance check, I need to order parts."

Visit our generator replacement part page on our website. http://www.proscientific.com/homogenizer-generator-probe-replacement-parts

Speak with a sales consultant at PRO, 203-267-4600, and they will be happy to assist you in finding the correct replacement part for your generator.
